Archive 4: A new Panhandle Punk Productions release

On October 6, 1986, Bad Brains played at Ca Chapel in Tallahassee, Florida. After performing on the bill, members of Gothic Playground got to know Bad Brains front man HR and collaborated with him on a song. The result is titled “Dilemma” and was recorded in the dead of night at FSU’s Diffenbaugh Studio sometime in the Spring of 1987. It’s not the most polished or finished recording but it is an obscure artifact of local punk history that connects the iconic front man of one of punk’s greatest bands with our hometown scene.

Panhandle Punk Productions recently got permission to release “Dilemma” in an ultra-limited edition of 20 7” lathe cut records. We put Gothic Playground’s version of “Dilemma” from their 1988 demo on side B of the record.

All 20 copies of the “Dilemma” 7” have been given away, but we also secured permission to upload the song to YouTube. Special thanks to Mark MacBride for expertly remastering it from a very old cassette, Audio Geography Studios for the top-notch work, and to HR and Lori for allowing us to share this recording.

The HR/Gothic Playground “Dilemma” 7” is Archive 4 under the Panhandle Punk Productions banner, and although it’s already out of stock the other three titles are still available in Tallahassee at Retrofit and RCT Records, and worldwide via PukeNVomit distribution.
